Executive Summary
Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium and Magnesium Plant Joint-Stock Company (UKTMP), one of the world’s largest producers of titanium sponge and titanium ingots, took enterprise management to the next level by implementing SAP S/4HANA® and SAP® Central Finance.
Customer Business Challenges
UKTMP wanted to improve its enterprise management by implementing a new ERP system. It also wanted to optimize its resource management and improve business processes. The new system needed to manage the main UKTMP business processes, including sourcing and procurement, sales, people management, and manufacturing costs management. It also needed to support accounting and tax management.
UKTMP used to manage its business processes in several different systems with manual data entry. Achieving ambitious goals required massive change. The biggest challenge for this project was to provide financial statement generation for the group of companies, each of which used different accounting systems. The solution needed to meet international audit requirements.
TerraLink's Contribution
TerraLink implemented a solution based on SAP S/4HANA® and SAP® Central Finance. This was the first SAP S/4HANA® deployment in Kazakhstan. During this project, TerraLink optimized and automated most UKTMP business processes, from procurement campaigns to receivables and payables analysis. The Master Data Management module provided merged data for a new tender process, including procurement plans and supplier, equipment, and asset lists.
The balance sheet, income statement, and tax reporting generation processes are now available online. TerraLink implemented an online replication of accounting transactions from the branch offices’ systems. Thanks to asset management capabilities, managers have quick online access to all information. The system also supports all organizational management and HR processes. It also significantly improves the work time-tracking and payroll process, due to integration with the enterprise access control system.
Customer Business Outcomes
By implementing SAP S/4HANA®, UKTMP streamlined business processes and eliminated manual data entry. Operation management improved through the use of full and correct data. The company’s profitability increased thanks to cost reductions and improved accuracy and transparency of production cost accounting.
The company plans to implement SAP® Plant Maintenance (PM) and SAP® Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) systems, as well as a balanced scorecard based on the S/4HANA platform.
