TerraLink Global Develops SAP BTP-Based e-Signature Solution for a Kazakhstan Oil & Gas Company

TerraLink Global has developed and implemented the SAP BTP e-Sign application for a major oil and gas company in Kazakhstan. The solution, built on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), digitalizes the signing of contracts and related documentation throughout the contract lifecycle — from agreement execution and amendments to ongoing contract performance.

The solution design and implementation support for business users were led by TerraLink Global’s Supply Chain Management Business Consulting practice. The project included business requirements gathering and analysis, application UX/UI design, preparation of functional specifications, coordination of development activities with an engineering team in India, as well as functional, integration, and user acceptance testing followed by successful production rollout.

The application development forms part of the customer’s broader procurement digital transformation program, covering the entire sourcing lifecycle — from demand planning and requisition campaigns to supplier selection and contract execution, including material deliveries, service acceptance, documentation approval, and payments.

The solution enables fully electronic, legally binding signing of contracts, addenda, service acceptance certificates, material acceptance documents, and other contractual records between the company and its suppliers, while ensuring full process control and compliance with the regulatory requirements of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Prior to implementation, contract signing relied entirely on manual processes and physical signatures, which complicated coordination between stakeholders, extended approval timelines, and introduced additional operational risks. The absence of a unified digital environment also limited visibility into document status tracking, storage of signed documents, and regulatory compliance.

SAP BTP e-Sign Application Functionality

The solution developed by TerraLink delivers an end-to-end digital signing process and includes:

  • Full integration with SAP Ariba Contract Management for end-to-end contract lifecycle management
  • Seamless integration with the National Certification Authority of Kazakhstan (NCA Layer) to enable certified legally binding electronic signatures
  • Automated email notifications and real-time signing status tracking for all participants
  • Built-in validation and signature control mechanisms verifying signer identity, authorization, and digital signature authenticity
  • Support for multi-party signing involving the customer, suppliers, and internal approvers
  • Automatic QR code generation on signed documents for fast authenticity verification and access to signature metadata
  • Integration with OpenText enterprise content management for storage of signed and intermediate document versions
  • Full audit trail within the SAP BTP environment to support compliance and reporting requirements
  • Scalable architecture enabling future integration with additional certification authorities and functional expansion

Implementation Results

Following deployment of the SAP BTP e-Sign application, the customer transitioned to fully electronic contract signing, significantly reduced contract execution timelines, eliminated courier services, and improved transparency and reliability of contract management processes.

The project represents a strong example of end-to-end procurement automation in Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry based on modern SAP application architecture.

TerraLink Global plans to further replicate the solution across additional organizations both within Kazakhstan and internationally.
