We decided to share some of the more relevant questions and the answers to them. We hope you will find these useful too.

You are welcome to send us your own questions, and we hope to answer them in our next issue. Our experts are keen to assist and guide you in ECM upgrades / migrations / integrations, specific areas such as capital projects management, contract management & intelligent process, automations, SAP S4/HANA archiving and SAP HANA migration.

We have selected several frequently asked questions which we regularly hear when speaking with clients about automation and ECM.

Question

Is there still a need for file sharing?

Answer

As a general rule, no. There may be some legacy applications that still require connectivity to a file share, but even in those instances there are often better options available. ECM provides a scalable, searchable, secure and governed storage facility for direct access - as well as through integrations with other applications.

Question

Should I use in-house resources or contractors for my upgrade?

Answer

This is a cost trade-off decision.  Most companies don’t want to use in-house staff who are experts in operating the ECM system for one-off activities where external experts can fill this role. Contracted experts who can get it right first time offer shorter implementation times and greater efficiency.

Question

How do I achieve a single view into all of my systems to obtain the information I need when I require it?

Answer

Most organizations have many disparate systems implemented or acquired over time. Each of these systems house information important to the business and business users. A consolidated view of transactional and operational data can enable different departmental functions in a business process to become more efficient and value-adding. Critical information can be surfaced quickly when users need it.
